The assassination United separates President Abraham Lincoln was carried out on the 14th of April, 1865, by nates Wilkes Booth who was a renowned actor at the time. This was the first in a subsequent long list of assassinations of United States Presidents. Book Assignment Part 5 - Essay ExampleActors on a historical stage do non just exist they act, and they act out of the conditions of their character and circumstances. Human life is biographical as well as biological, and it is clear that memory has sense from twain of these perspectives. Following Martnez (1994), Wilson and Donnan state that transnationalism is the process whereby fudgelanders are influenced by, and some convictions share the values, ideas, customs and traditions of, their counterparts across the boundary line (Wilson and Donnan 1999, p. 5). Unlike the stage actor, whose assumed identity is not taken seriously to represent the self within, the spy must convince skeptical and suspicious others of the reality of an assumed identity, when that assumed identity is in event false. Thus, the spy poses an interesting case for a psychology of self and identity, especially when the possibilities of double agents or counterspies are considered. In contrast to other borders , the uniqueness of the U.S.-Mexican border is explained by historical relations between the nations and political struggle. The war between the United States and Mexico (1846-48) ended with the defeat of Mexico and its resultant loss of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. For the first time the Spanish Americans realized that the Colossus of the North was a threat to them. Although Mexico has had to accept the loss of half the territory it claimed, that loss is still a source of bitterness. In South America after the wars of independence there were no developments of international importance comparable to those in Mexico. Though for some purposes and in some contexts the native community was treated as homogeneous, there was in colonialism, an ideology and practice of motley which usually divided that population into further, hierarchically ordered and stereotyped, categories. Sometimes these were very broad Spaniards in Mexico referred to the wild Indians. This kind of t ransformation often emerged through an social dialectic. In the colonial classification of indigenous populations there was a dialectical relationship between existing ethnic categories, often those of the locally dominant group with which the colonizers first established contact, or with which they had their most enduring relationship, and the categories of the colonizers own language and culture. They did not impose or check solely with a preformed system of classification, nor did they adopt existing systems wholesale. In the shaping and reshaping of indigenous ethnic and cultural pluralism there was a complex interplay between colonizers systems of classification and those of the colonized (which in any case were not timeless or unchanging). The transformation of ethnic space involved various forms of social and political incorporation. The exploration of Mexican and Mexican-American political values and actions at the border is an early example of ethnicity as a factor which gives character to the borderlands, binds communities to each other across the marginal (Wilson and Donnan Wilson and Donnan 1999, p. 54) .The relations between the U.S. and Mexico were based on unique cultural values and traditions shaped by both cultures. The historical and sociological process we have

It is assumed that all human beings atomic number 18 rational thinkers hence would always choose to consume crossways that would give them maximum satisfaction or utility. Mankiw argues that rational people systematically and purposefully do the trump to achieve objectives given available opportunity. Given a choice among alternatives and with scarce resources, one would evaluate the benefits and bells of consuming an extra unit of a product and would only take a decision only if marginal benefit is greater than marginal cost. In this case, to solve the alcohol abuse problem, one has to deal marginal benefits and marginal costs derived from consuming an extra unit of alcohol and since excessive drinking has more costs than benefits, one would refrain from alcohol. The opportunity cost foregone by choosing to abuse alcohol is too high compared to satisfaction derived mo ney spent on alcohol can do many other(a) things such as feeding the family, education for children, and investments among others. Besides, the person may have health problems then adding to the costs. By considering all these factors, a rational person would refrain from alcohol abuse. Heyne acknowledges the role played by incentives in directing behavior. For him, rational people usually respond to incentives or are induced to act by them. Assuming alcohol abusers are rational, imposing taxes on alcohol substances would eliminate the problem. This would follow the law of demand which states that other things being constant, if the price of a well increase, the quantity demanded of the good decreases. Taxes have the effect of increasing alcohol prices and this would automatically mean that the abusers would desist from alcohol consumption or cut their consumption. Prescription medicine Effects on Demand and Supply of Other Products and Services Prescription drugs are drugs pre scribed by a medical officer to a patient of and are regulated by legislation unlike the over-the-counter drugs which can be old to anyone. If a patient is under prescription medicine drugs, he/she buys the drugs notwithstanding the price of the drugs. An increase or decrease in price of the drugs therefore has little or no effect on the quantity demanded by an mortal (McCarthy & Schafermeyer, 2007). The drugs are provided by the National Health Insurance and have no close substitutes. The increase in price of the drugs thus affects all the sectors of healthcare diligence such as patients and private insurers. Due to increased costs, the private insurers are forced to increase the cost of their services in case they have to stretch out such drugs and this may lead to low demand for their services. The patients are also required to get medical prescriptions before obtaining the drugs thus the demand for the medicine may be low compared to over-the-counter drugs. Use of prescrip tion drugs also has an effect on demand for other healthcare services such as hospitalization. The prescription drugs also affect supply of generic products as manufacturers have patents to supply the new drugs for some years. Elasticity of Demand and Supply The price elasticity of demanded which is ploughshare change in quantity demanded over percentage change in price shows consumers responsiveness to price changes. (McKenzie & Lee, 2006). It is an important consideration when analyzing the impact of a switching in supply and in determining if the firm should raise or lower its price. The supply curve is upward sloping showing a confirmatory relationship between price and quantity supplied other things held constant. However, in long-run, those factors do change causing a shift in supply curve. Such factors take input prices, technology, expectations and number of sellers in the market. For example, an increase in input prices such as labor would lead to a decrease in supply t hus shifting the supply curve to the left. This

Rawls and P. Ingalls, personal communication, June 19, 2009). Professor Rawls teaches NURS 320 Health shell out Ethics which is offered in the first semester of the nursing program. Because this is an introductory course, Professor Rawls philosophy is to make the course as student-friendly as possible, including opportunities for students to work together and independently.According to her syllabus, her teaching strategies include group discussions, small group work, worksheets and journaling, online discussions, videos, and independent studies (Health Care Ethics syllabus, 2009). Professor Ingalls teaches NURS 330 Older Adult and the Family in Retireme nt which is offered in the second semester of the nursing program. Professor Ingalls believes it is most important for the learners to understand the life-span nature of nursing, that good enough nursing care is critical from birth to death. She also strives to demonstrate that nursing does not simply involve the care of the patient, but the patients family as well. She also uses a variety of instructional strategies to meet student needs, including team-teaching, lectures, videos, guest speakers, computer based assignments, discussion of case study and research articles, and the use of technology (Older Adult syllabus, 2009). Both of these instructors attempt to make their course syllabi student-centered by providing a topical outline, so that students know what they will be studying. However, two modifications in specific would make their syllabi stronger. First, the instructors did not include course policies in their syllabi. Students would find it helpful to know what the cour se expectations are, rather than merely learning of the subjects they will be studying. Second, instructors mogul include specific assignments that students will be expected to complete. This addition would allow students to allot adequate time to the assignment and to acquire any special materials they would need.References Common Data Set (2009). The Great Gatsby Essay Example for Free

The not bad(p) Gatsby EssayThe novel, The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald argues that the novel is a perfect example of the great American love story, but that is a negative. The Great Gatsby is not a tale about perfect love, throughout the story we follow multiple corrupted relationships. turkey cock and myrtle they are two objects to unity another. Daisy chooses Tom over Gatsby when the wait is longer than expected and hes offering her mass. This is a tale of love and lust corrupting individuals, and of an American dream that is never fulfilled. Many people dream of being rich and famous in this time era because they want to be honored and adore by people. This is the goal of Jay Gatsby, the protagonist in The Great Gatsby. Jay Gatsby throws all these parties to get known as this big timer a well-known rich gay he thinks that will attract Daisy. If love is only a will to possess, it is not love, there are three main relationships in The Great Gatsby and they are all unsuccessful because they are not based off of love, but on materialism. An example of an unsuccessful relationship in The Great Gatsby is the extracurricular affair between myrtle Wilson and Tom Buchanan.Tom and Myrtle meet on a train when Myrtle was on her way visiting her child that lives in New York and the two were both infatuated with each others appearances, and neither of them could take their eyes off one another. Myrtle is conjoin to a man unsuccessful man named George B. Wilson. She joins into a conversation with Catherine explaining how she feels about her marriage , which I feel makes it so easy to cheat with Tom Buchanan. Well, I married him, said Myrtle, ambiguously. And thats the difference between your case and mine. Why did you, Myrtle? demanded Catherine. Nobody forced you to. Myrtle considered. I married him because I public opinion he was a gentleman, she said finally. I thought he knew something about breeding, but he wasnt fit to lick my shoe. You were crazy about him for a while, said Catherine. Crazy about him cried Myrtle incredulously. Who said I was crazy about him? I never was any more crazy about him than I was about that man there. She pointed suddenly at me, and every one looked at me accusingly. I tried to show by my expression that I had played no part in her past. The only crazy I was was when I married him.I knew right away I made a mistake. He borrowed mortals best suit to get married in, and never even told me about it, and the man came after it one day when he was out. oh, is that your suit? I said. this is the first I ever heard about it. But I gave it to him and then I lay down and cried to beat the band all afternoon. (F. Scott Fitzgerald 34-35). Myrtle is unsatisfied, annoyed, and aggressive. She is disgusted with everything about her marriage because she has so much hatred towards her husband, he is poor man. Myrtle is a superficial materialistic vacuous bitch Thats the only way I can put it.Myrtle deserv es every bad thing that comes to her for the betrayal of her husband. Tom only uses Myrtle for sex thats all shes good for and in return she receives gifts and money, not because Tom cares about her, but because he just have money to blow. Myrtle believes Tom will leave his wife for her, but to Tom shes just a sexual toy, sexual object, nothing just being used. Tom makes it beauteous clear that he isnt leaving Daisy for her from the way he treats Myrtle at the party, especially when he breaks her nose for having the nerve to mention his wife Daisys name. Daisy Daisy Daisy shouted Mrs.Wilson. Ill say it whenever I want to Daisy Dai Making a short deft movement, Tom Buchanan broke her nose with his open hand (Fitzgerald 43). The vile nature of their relationship is reinforced when she dies. After a fight with her husband, Myrtle runs away towards a golden car that she thinks is Toms. The gold color of the vehicle symbolizes money, the fortune that Myrtle craves for. When Tom hear s that she was hit by the car he has no emotional reaction to her death. He hurries to tell her husband that he was not the one driving the car so he can get away from the situation clean. The relationship between Tom and Myrtle is best symbolized by an high-priced dog leash Tom bought for Myrtles puppy. It deliberates on the fact that Tom is her master, the one who controls his pet with money. As the dog, Myrtle is rewarded treats (gifts and money) for acting accordingly. The unequal status of Tom and Myrtle demonstrates that their relationship was bound to have a lack of success from the inception. Daisy and Tom Buchanan marriage is also a complete failure. Daisy only marries Tom because the war stranded her and Gatsby. However, the most important reason for her marring him is because he comes from money. Tom is from a wealthy family and has statues. He also wins Daisy over by giving her everything she wants, especially at their marriage ceremony ceremony. In June Daisy married To m Buchanan of Chicago, with more pomp and circumstance than Louisville ever knew before. He came down with a hundred people in four snobby cars, and hired a whole floor of the Muhlbach Hotel, and the day before the wedding he gave her a string of pearls valued at three hundred and litre thousand dollars (Fitzgerald 82).
